From Saturday markets in Newmarket, Aurora and Markham to pumpkin patches and corn mazes in Stouffville and Markham, here is a roundup of fall farmers' markets and harvest events across York Region this season.

Local insight from Jonathan Colford, sharing what makes life in York Region special across every season.

Farm and market hours, dates and admission details can change without notice, especially later in the fall season. Always confirm directly with the market or farm before you visit. This article was last checked against official sources in late August 2026.

Farmers' markets still running this fall

Several York Region farmers' markets stay open well into October, giving you a few more weekends to pick up local produce, baked goods and crafts before the season wraps up.

Market Location Days and hours 2026 season
Newmarket Main St. Farmers' Market Riverwalk Commons, Newmarket Saturdays, 8am to 1pm Through October 31
The Aurora Farmers Market and Artisan Fair Aurora Town Park Saturdays, 8am to 1pm May through October
Main Street Markham Farmers' Market Main Street Unionville, Markham Saturdays, 9am to 1pm Through October 10

Some other York Region communities run seasonal or pop-up markets that may extend into fall as well. If your town is not listed here, check with your local municipality or BIA for current market dates.

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes

Two of the best-known pick-your-own and harvest attractions in the Markham and Stouffville area open in mid-September and run through the fall.

Reesor's Farm Market

Pick-your-own pumpkins and a corn maze open September 18 through November 1, closed Sundays. Fields open at 9am with last entry at 5pm. Online reservations are required for Saturdays and Thanksgiving Monday; weekdays are drop-in.

Whittamore's Farm

Pumpkinland runs mid-September through October, and Harvest Festival Weekends run from September 17 through Halloween, with a corn maze, wagon rides and a Spooky Forest walk-through. Confirm this season's hours before visiting, as the farm has indicated this may be its last year for pick-your-own.

Both farms are within easy reach of Markham and Stouffville, and make for a good half-day outing alongside a visit to one of the Saturday farmers' markets above.

Tips for visiting this fall

  • Check the market or farm's own website or social media the week of your visit, since hours and closures can change with weather or harvest conditions
  • Bring cash for smaller vendors, even though many now accept cards or e-transfer
  • Reserve ahead for pumpkin patches on weekends, especially close to Thanksgiving and Halloween
  • Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy if you're heading into a corn maze or pumpkin field
  • Arrive early on Saturdays for the best selection at farmers' markets, particularly for baked goods
  • Combine a market visit with a walk through a local park or trail to make the most of fall colours

Common questions

Do I need to book ahead for farmers' markets?

No, farmers' markets are drop-in. Reservations mainly apply to pick-your-own pumpkin patches on weekends.

What happens if it rains?

Most outdoor farmers' markets operate rain or shine, but pumpkin fields and corn mazes may close temporarily in heavy rain for safety. Check the farm's website or social media if the weather looks uncertain.

Are these events good for young kids?

Yes. Farmers' markets are stroller-friendly and low-key, while the pumpkin patches and corn mazes are generally set up as family attractions with wagon rides and play areas.
